Yesterday we celebrated Carter's first birthday. I really wanted to make it special because of everything that happened on that day one year ago. We really were so lucky. To read Carter's birth story, click here.
We really wanted to mark the occasion so we decided to do a party with close friends and family. It was the 24th of July, which is Pioneer day - a Utah holiday, so we didn't think we'd get very many people. Steve and I were both completely surprised by the amount of people that ended up coming so we had to rearrange our small living space where we were having the party but it ended up working perfectly.
It was a great day to celebrate Carter and all that he went through this first year. I made a little video for him, which I will post to the blog some time in the next few days, and it was emotional watching back on his birth and remembering how much of a miracle it really was that everything turned out the way it did.
We are so grateful for the love and support Carter has been given in this first year with all of his challenges and feel so blessed he is here, safe, and in our lives. Happy first birthday little bubba!
Aunt Katie is the best!

Papa and Everett playing together
I was so happy I kept this banner that was made for Carter by the nurses in the NICU when he was born. It was cool being able to use it again one year later.
Carter's cute little cousin, Jack
Everett and Boss had a blast together... Everett just had a difficult time understanding the concept of it being only Carter's birthday
Carter was so cute, reading his card!
Cute Boss!
